At Meghan Kelly Tutoring, the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every child and young person is a priority. I am committed to providing a safe, supportive and respectful online learning environment where every student feels comfortable, valued and able to reach their full potential. Safeguarding underpins every aspect of my tutoring practice.
Enhanced DBS Check I hold a current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate. This provides parents and carers with reassurance that appropriate background checks have been completed before working with children and young people. A copy of my DBS certificate can be made available for inspection upon request.
Online Safety Lessons are delivered online using Zoom. To help maintain a safe online environment: Lessons take place using secure meeting links. Students should join from a suitable learning environment where possible. Parents or guardians should remain contactable throughout each lesson. Students are encouraged to communicate respectfully at all times.
Parent and Guardian Responsibilities For students under the age of 18, parents or guardians are responsible for: Providing accurate information about the student where relevant. Ensuring the student has access to a suitable device and internet connection. Remaining contactable throughout the lesson. Informing Meghan Kelly Tutoring of any important safeguarding or welfare information that may affect tuition. Parents are welcome to observe lessons if they wish, although this is not required.
Student Wellbeing Every student should expect to be treated with: Kindness Respect Patience Encouragement Fairness Teaching is adapted wherever possible to meet individual learning needs, including supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Professional Conduct As a professional tutor, I am committed to: Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries at all times. Communicating respectfully with students and families. Protecting personal information in accordance with UK GDPR and EU GDPR. Delivering lessons in a safe and inclusive manner. Continuing to develop professionally through ongoing learning and best practice.
Confidentiality Information shared by students and families is treated confidentially wherever possible. However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed if information is disclosed that suggests a child or vulnerable person may be at risk of harm. Where safeguarding concerns arise, appropriate action may be taken in accordance with safeguarding responsibilities and, where necessary, information may be shared with relevant organisations or authorities.
Lesson Recordings Where lessons are recorded, this will only take place with the informed consent of the parent or guardian (and the student where appropriate). Recordings are used only for educational, safeguarding or quality assurance purposes and are stored securely. Further information is available in the Privacy Policy and Recording Lessons Policy.
